The Irvine Family Fun Fair
is a
coming together of non-profit agency, school and community
partners working together to promote public safety,
prevention, wellness and community involvement. Last year,
the event featured more than 100 game, food and activity
booths hosted by 80 participating partners.

The 2007
Irvine Family Fun Fair highlighted public safety,
preparedness, and our community's commitment to prevention.
The Fun
Fair features more than 80 community partners hosting over 100
game, food and activity booths. The fair also features
entertainment from some of our community's most talented youth.
There is
literally something for the entire family at the Irvine Family
Fun Fair. |

HIGHLIGHT: A Focus on
Public Safety |
|
Spotlight
on Public Safety: The Irvine Family Fun Fair
provides a unique opportunity for Irvine
citizens to learn more about the services provided by the
Irvine Police Department.
The event
showcases the police department’s programs and services including:
-
Emergency Management
provides information regarding emergency preparedness.
- The
SWAT
Team
brings the BEAR vehicle & equipment out. Children will have an opportunity
to try on equipment and parents may take pictures.
- CSI
hosts an interactive display where children can learn tricks of the trade
including how to lift fingerprints.

Crime Prevention
issues “Passports for Safety” a photo & fingerprint document for parents to
keep.

Communications
(dispatch) host a booth where children and parents can meet
the individuals who answer 911 calls!

Personnel & Training
hosts a recruiting booth where those interested in law enforcement as a
career, now or in the future, may learn more about joining the Irvine Police
Department.

Irvine Patrol and Motor Officers
host police department tours throughout the day. These tours provide an
opportunity for citizens to see how the Irvine Police Department employs
some of the most innovative and advanced systems in the industry in order to
provide exceptional service to the community.

Operations Support
hosts a demonstration table where parents may learn how to properly secure
child safety seats.

DARE Officers
host a variety of game and activity booths together with
their DARE students.

School Resource Officers
host an information booth where parents of middle and high
school aged students may learn more about the issues that our young people
face as well as their rights and responsibilities.

Animal Services Officers
host an information booth where young people may learn more about the role
these officers play in protecting animals as well as information about
Irvine’s Animal Shelter.
- The
Irvine Police Explorers
provide support at the event. These talented young men and women also host
an information table for students who are interested in becoming a Police
Explorer.
- The
Irvine Police Community Police Academy Alumni Association
is comprised of citizens who have completed the academy. These volunteers
host a free hot dog lunch at the event.
The
Irvine Family Fun Fair
also showcases the
Irvine Police Department’s
partners in
public safety, including:
- The
Orange County Fire Authority
features the HazMat, Mass
Casualty, Swift Water, Foam Tender, Air Knife and Edith House units in
addition to a Fire Truck and a Fire Engine at the event.
- UCI
Police Department
hosts an information booth at the event where citizens may
learn more about the services they provide to the university community and
the surrounding area.
